In Jinx chapter 11, Kim Dan is beaten by loan sharks after receiving a payment from Joo Jaekyung. The next day, Jaekyung, annoyed by Dan’s injuries, rejects Dan’s desperate plea for an advance on his payment, calling him pathetic. Dan is left feeling helpless and humiliated.

In Jinx chapter 10, Kim Dan finds a drunk and emotional Joo Jaekyung, who confesses his loneliness and kisses a shocked Dan. The next morning, a sober Jaekyung apologizes for his actions.

In Jinx chapter 9, a bruised and sick Kim Dan runs into Choi Heesung, who takes him to dinner. During their dinner, Heesung confesses his crush on Dan, leaving him speechless.

In Jinx chapter 7, Joo Jaekyung gets angry when his friend, Choi Heesung, reveals his romantic interest in Kim Dan. A drunken Jaekyung later kicks Heesung out of his apartment. He then calls Dan, demanding he come over, and Dan agrees.

In Jinx chapter 6, Joo Jaekyung confronts Kim Dan for ignoring him. Having now secured money for his grandmother’s medicine, Dan agrees to Jaekyung’s terms and reflects on the dangerous new life he has committed to.

In Jinx chapter 5, Joo Jaekyung wins his fight and credits Kim Dan, but Dan ignores his calls due to emotional distress. After learning his grandmother’s condition has worsened, a desperate Dan finally appears before Jaekyung, needing the money for a more expensive treatment.
